as graduation draws near, i find myself worrying – will i still be creative, inspired, proactive, productive, interested, lively, engaged without school? rather than writing papers, i’ve been ruminating on things that will keep me creative. it’s difficult to keep those things from being synonymous with consumption. buying things.

i think i’m going to gain a wonderful appreciation for blogs – those free, thought provoking beauties. i’m mostly concerned that i’ll lose my connection to sources of information. i’m frantically [mentally] bookmarking the sites i hear about, hoping they’ll give me inspiration and, well, brain activity in the future. this post was born from my profile update, which was born from procrastinating on a Girls’ Studies paper and deciding to read feministing instead. and then reading shannon’s blog [which may be creepy because i'm not sure she knows i do] and wanting to cook food. and then thinking about blogs and how i never use mine. thought progression has always interested me, but i digress.

my telling profile update:

in the process of transitioning into the “real” world from the holographic world of college, i plan to keep reading, keep musing, and, most of all, keep thinking. perhaps most importantly: keep recording those thoughts.

true to my nerddom, i’ve requested a recommended reading list from my favorite professor to keep me inspired. post-graduation, i plan to read with a focus on political ideologies, oppression, postcolonialism, postmodernism, history [preferably revisionist], feminism [eco, third wave, and otherwise], and the like. i also plan to [vegan] cook, [vegan] bake, go on longer bike rides, learn to knit, stick with some physical exercise, and hopefully blog.

i just wish wordpress had a “friends page.”
